Hull’s unwanted cats and dogs get a lift from local company

Hull’s unwanted cats and dogs are set to benefit from a cash donation made by the local branch of a national lift company.

Pickerings Lifts has made a donation to Hull Animal Welfare Trust to help care for the animals at its shelter in South Cave.

The charity has helped rehome over 30,000 animals since it was formed by a group of volunteers in 1982 and ensures healthy animals are never destroyed and animals in distress are always taken in.

The shelter relies heavily on donations to allow it to stay open 365 days a year and match animals with loving owners. As part of their service, the Trust neuters animals to help tackle the unwanted animal problem.

The £200 donation is a welcome boost to the shelter and will go directly to the care and attention of the animals.

Ian Woodward, regional manager at Pickerings’ Hull branch, said: “The dedication of this organisation really shines through. For local people to have somewhere to take animals in need, 365 days of the year is fantastic.”
