Yorkshire online printing specialist expands with "luxury" book printer acquisition
Online printing specialist, instantprint has broadened its horizons following its acquisition of the award-winning luxury booklet printing specialists, Kingsbury Press.
Kingsbury Press is located just 13 miles down the road from instantprint’s Rotherham supersite in Loversall, Doncaster.
Along with its 60,000 sq ft, zero emissions site, instantprint will be retaining all 37 of Kingsbury’s employees, bringing its team to almost 700 employees across all divisions.
A number of instantprint’s management team will be working from the Kingsbury site in order to ensure a cohesive culture is established from the beginning.
Founded in 2009, instantprint has grown from a team of two, its co-founders, and childhood friends, James Kinsella and Adam Carnell. Over a decade on, instantprint is now the largest UK based online printer and plans further expansion.
The opportunity to acquire Kingsbury Press arose as the family owners embarked upon an exit plan, with advisors at BDO approaching instantprint regarding the acquisition of the company.
In addition to working with existing Kingsbury Press clients and driving the business forward, the takeover will also benefit instantprint customers who, in the near future, will be able to access additional booklet printing options not currently available on the website.
Instantprint customers will have access to a wider variety of bespoke book printing options, including more sizes, stocks, and finishes. They will also have the option of using Kingsbury’s “innovative lay-flat binding method”, the K-Bind, allowing designs to span across the binding edge.
Head of instantprint Laura Mucklow said, “This is an incredibly exciting time for both instantprint and Kingsbury Press. Both businesses’ offerings are complementary and our new partnership brings with it ample opportunity for new and existing clients on both sides.
“After watching all of our plans fall into place over the last month or so, it’s clear to see that the future of UK print manufacturing is growing strong and I’m thrilled that we’re at the heart of it.”
