Primary school students help local housebuilder create a colourful sign for Coxhoe development

Children from a school in Coxhoe have made their mark at a new local housing development by designing an entrance sign welcoming residents and visitors to the site.

Leading local housebuilder, Barratt Developments North East, invited pupils from nearby Coxhoe Primary School in County Durham to help add a touch of community spirit to its development, Burdon Green.

The pupils created their designs earlier this year and took inspiration from nature. Together the pupils’ artwork spells out the name of the site and has now been transformed into a colourful welcome sign at the development for residents and visitors to Burdon Green. The five star housebuilder recently hosted the school’s visit to the development, where the pupils could see their design brought to life.

Head Teacher Jayne Bartle said: “The children loved coming up with their own colourful designs for the entrance sign to Burdon Green. They enjoyed the challenge of working on a design brief and their ideas were very creative. It was wonderful for them to see their artwork transformed into a real-life sign at the development.”

Lloyd Tate, Senior Site Manager at Burdon Green, said: “It’s been a pleasure to collaborate with the pupils of Coxhoe Primary School for our development at Burdon Green. We value the communities in which we build and having local children create the development’s entrance sign is just one way that we are able to help strengthen the community bond. The entrance sign designed by the school children really adds character to the development and we hope this will be the start of a great working relationship with Coxhoe Primary School.”

Burdon Green is a stunning collection of three and four bedroom homes surrounded by scenic nature trails and country walks, yet it’s located just five miles from Durham city centre. With great transport links and in close proximity to outstanding schools, Burdon Green is the perfect place for professionals and families to call home. Buyers can trade their current property in for a new home using the homebuilder’s own Part Exchange scheme.
