North East Workforce Skills Makes a Difference with Training from Newcastle College

The North East Workforce Skills programme aims to upskill the workforce in Tyne and Wear and Northumberland; enabling employers to access ESF funding to address training needs within their businesses.

Our consortium partners offer a wide range of courses from basic skills through to Level 7. There is no cash match required from employers, just use your Apprenticeship Levy.

Staff from St Bede’s Catholic Primary School, part of Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust, have been benefitting from the North East Workforce Skills programme through training delivered by Newcastle College.

Newcastle College provided Emergency First Aid at Work training, to staff at St Bede’s Catholic Primary School:

“Accessing the Emergency First Aid at Work course through Newcastle College, using the funding from North East Work Force Skills was very easy and the Skills Trainer came to us, bringing portable simulation equipment.

“Emergency First Aid at Work is a vital area of training but sometimes long sessions are difficult to maintain enthusiasm and interest. The Skills Trainer did a fabulous job and staff thoroughly enjoyed his presentations and were very keen to participate and ask questions, which is a credit to his delivery!”

Leigh-Anne Young, Headteacher, St Bede’s Catholic Primary School, part of Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust.
