Slow your speed! Local homebuilder partners with Waverley school to promote road safety
Leading local homebuilder, Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, has teamed up with primary school students in Waverley to raise awareness of road safety.
Year 4 students from Waverley Junior Academy were invited by the five star homebuilder to take part in a competition that will see three lucky winners’ road safety posters displayed close to the entrance of its nearby Momentum development.
Encouraging awareness amongst students and local drivers, each student’s poster was designed to highlight the dangers of driving too fast on residential roads and to encourage drivers to slow down.
Of the winners, 9 year old Serene Sae-Ko based their design on the importance of lollipop workers while 9 year old Saranya Basu’s design was inspired by displaying her ideas as a thought bubble. The third of the winning designs was created by 8 year old Ethan Liversidge who opted for a design to highlight road safety with a colourful rainbow to brighten up people’s day.
Gemma Rosindale, Sales Manager at Momentum said “The students all did a brilliant job of highlighting the importance of road safety around Waverley on their posters and we’re looking forward to making them into road signs for Momentum. We hope the children’s signs will make drivers in the area consider their speed and help keep our children safe from speeding cars.”
Katie Walton at Waverley Junior Academy, added “The children really enjoyed designing their road safety signs for Barratt. The activity encouraged them to be aware of speeding drivers and to take care when crossing the road. We can’t wait to see the final signs take pride of place at Momentum.”
Momentum is a vibrant new community and development offering a range of three and four bedroom homes. Priced from £275,995, there are a range of buying incentives including the Education Workers Scheme which offers a deposit contribution of up to £15,000 off the price of a new home for anyone who works in the education sector. Prospective buyers are invited to tour the show homes at Momentum.
