East Mids Business Kickstart The New Year With Reduced Business Rates
Nearly 2,000 businesses have made significant historic & future savings.
Business rates reduction specialist, RVA Surveyors, has announced that nearly two thousand commercial businesses across the East Midlands have made substantial savings, as part of its no reduction, no fee service.
RVA Surveyors works closely with a huge breadth of different businesses within the region from leisure, hospitality, education and healthcare right through to industrial and retail units, offices and sport facilities. RVA has been able to support these sectors by achieving historic and future savings through the Government’s Check Challenge Appeal process.
With the Government’s pandemic support for businesses ending, thousands are facing rising costs in the relief, as part of recovery support for businesses impacted by Covid-19 will revert back to their pre-pandemic rates meaning many could lose the relief entirely. This silent tax will total more than £26 billion each year for the Government.
Steve Hughes, CEO of RVA Surveyors, commented: “It is a common and recurring issue that businesses assume they are paying the correct business rates for their commercial premises. We are programmed to accept that our tax is calculated based upon our individual circumstances and we very rarely question the accuracy. Many even presume they will be notified by the relevant government department if they are paying too much. Unfortunately, it is this level of apathy that makes business rates an archaic and deeply flawed system. Plus, querying your tax liability is a daunting and time consuming process. That’s where we can help, as is evidenced by our latest data from the East Midlands.
“It fills me with great pride that we have been able to help almost 2,000 regional companies reduce their business rates liability. A business rates reduction can be an invaluable cash boost, and there is no greater time than now that businesses need this. We have seen first hand the impact this can have in the East Midlands.”
Leicester-based business, ‘Go Kids Go’ engaged with RVA Surveyors in 2020 to assess its business rate. RVA found grounds for appeal through the Check Challenge Appeal process and achieved a backdated reduction of £13,000 for the premier play centre.
Director at ‘Go Kids Go’, Vince Worley commented: “I’ve always found the business rates system strange, given that your rate can change in a matter of years - it’s a similar concept to how we could all be paying less for our electricity in the coming years… these things just fluctuate.
“When we first engaged with RVA surveyors, I knew that future reductions would be a possible outcome but when we were informed of both backdated and forward savings, it was such a pleasant surprise. With the backdated savings, worth £13,000, we’ve been able to invest in our premier play centre with brand new vinyl flooring for a huge section of the building.
“From past experience I’ve found that a lot of other surveyors will request an upfront fee, without guarantee of a reduction. RVA Surveyors are great because they only charge you if a reduction is achieved.
“I would absolutely recommend RVA to any other business that thinks it may be paying the wrong business rate. Undertaking the process with RVA was great because they work on a no win, no fee basis, so it’s just a risk free way of saving potentially a lot of money - and you may be surprised with the amount you could be saving.”
Established in 2008, Manchester-based RVA Surveyors employs over 100 people and is the fastest growing business rates reduction specialist, with industry leading success rates and offering no reduction no fee service. RVA is the number one choice for businesses looking to achieve a significant reduction in their business rates liability. Working with a variety of businesses across England and Wales, RVA Surveyors helps to reduce business rates liability for its clients.
