GMS Security Services renew membership with police initiative Secured By Design
West Midlands-based GMS Security Services, part of the GMS Group, have renewed their membership with Secured by Design, the official police security initiative.
GMS Security Services is a privately owned national security specialist working with leading brands including Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin and CEMEX UK. Established as a manned guarding business in 1997, the company has been leading the market in innovation, service, and delivery ever since.
GMS offers complete peace of mind with their reliable key-holding and alarm response service. They aim to respond to all alarms within 60 minutes and use their unique GOSYS technology to take a report and photographic evidence of their call-out, which is emailed instantly to the customer. They also work in partnership with fellow SBD members SelectaDNA to provide forensic marking as an additional crime deterrent for properties.
Having recently moved its HQ to Oldbury, GMS Group employs 500 staff delivering security solutions for the likes of Neovia, Kerry Foods and AF Blakemore & Son. Following a successful period of growth with client wins including Dudley College, GMS has landed on the annual list of the top 45 businesses in the security sector put together by leading industry title Infologue.
GMS is leading a campaign to increase female employment levels in security, backed by West Midlands Mayor Andy Street, and run a successful mental health project, called “Reach out, help a mate back up”, encouraging team members to look out for each other’s wellbeing.
Ben Neate, GMS Operations Director, said: “With GMS having built a strong reputation for delivering high standards of service for clients across the UK, our SBD membership gives us a strong partnership to increase safety for our customers and their sites.”
Ruari Robertson, Secured by Design, commented: “I am delighted that GMS Security Services have renewed their valued membership and I look forward to maintaining that relationship during this time.”
Secured by Design (SBD) is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim of reducing crime and increasing safety for businesses and individuals. SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems along with fencing systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.
SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Home Office, Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies.
SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK, through the Police Preferred Specification - a product-based accreditation scheme developed over 20 years ago, which provides a recognised standard for all security products that effectively deter and reduce crime. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
