South Tyneside manufacturer opens new Teesside office as part of “ambitious” growth plans

Manufacturing specialist HLA Services has further reinforced its commitment to Teesside and North Yorkshire, with the move to larger offices in Commerce House, Middlesbrough.

The firm has had a satellite office on Teesside for eight years but has decided that to meet its ambitious growth plans, now was the time to move.

With its headquarters in South Tyneside, the 100-strong firm has, over the last 18 months, been replicating the success it has had on Tyneside and Northumberland with a focus on Teesside and North Yorkshire.

The appointment of Matt Chojnacki-Wood bolstered the business development team in 2021, overseeing activity in the south of the region. The company has also secured ongoing work with Middlesbrough College, Caterpillar and has been awarded position-one on the mechanical and engineering framework with Stockton Borough Council.

Paul Smith, director HLA Services, said: “The move to larger office space strengthens our capabilities within Teesside at a time when the region is booming. Commerce House is an ideal location, providing us with a central base and easy access to the A19/A66.

“It will enable us to service customers in Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and also increase our presence as we look to expand our customer base.

“The move also comes at an exciting time for the company on Teesside. Having been awarded the contract with Stockton Borough Council, we will, over the course of the year, hire local people within the mechanical and engineering division of the business.”

HLA Services works across numerous sectors including construction, manufacturing, retail, education and hospitality and is one of the North East’s leading mechanical, air conditioning, climate change, and temperature control specialists.

John McCabe, chief executive, North East England Chamber of Commerce said: “It’s great news that our Chamber member HLA Services is expanding its presence in Tees Valley after securing big contracts. The new office in Commerce House will be a perfect launch pad for the company’s ambitious plans for the south of the region and North Yorkshire.”

Andy Preston, mayor of Middlesbrough, added: “HLA is a great business and it’s fantastic to see it expanding here in Middlesbrough. Lots of companies are growing here and I’m massively pleased to see HLA being part of this success story.”
