McLaren Racing, Rolls-Royce and Heathrow join to celebrate diversity heroes among engineering and technology at prestigious ceremony
A number of major companies have joined forces in order to celebrate the diverse population among the engineering and technology sector.
Global corporations like McLaren Racing, SSE and the Royal Academy of Engineering are supporting the prestigious Engineering Talent Awards in order to recognise good practice and achievements from both individuals and organisations driving forward good work in diversity and inclusion across the indispensable industries.
Judges for the ceremony, which will take place on 15 September 2022 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Tower Bridge, include McLaren director of people experience Rebecca Constable, Rolls-Royce lead on inclusion and diversity Greg Turner-Smart, former Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent and Head of Diversity & Inclusion Dr Victor Olisa, plus Damilola Fari-Arole, a senior engineer working on High Speed 2.
The stellar nine-strong panel will make their decisions once all nominations have been submitted before the deadline on February 18.
Awards founder and EqualEngineers managing director Dr Mark McBride-Wright said: “The awards aim to raise the profile of the engineering and technology professions across the UK and highlight diversity in engineering on a national platform.
“Through showcasing role models and inspiring people, we can celebrate the diversity of organisations and engineers.”
Last year, Craig Orrock from Heriot-Watt University was honoured with the Overall Excellence in Engineering Award 2021 for his work in the UK Students for the Exploration & Development of Space (UKSEDS) national student space society, and for his leadership in improving accessibility for the hearing impaired and deaf people.
There were 12 category winners overall in 2021 from companies such as BAE Systems, Google and Heathrow, chosen from 77 nominations from a wide array of engineering organisations, industries and geographical locations.
As mentioned, nominations and entries into the Engineering Talent Awards 2022 are open for just two more weeks and you can find out more about that, while nominating any worthy recipients, on the ETA’s website.
