Leeds cybersecurity firm connects with leading disability charity

Over the last twelve months a Leeds based cybersecurity firm has forged a strong partnership with one of the UK’s foremost disability charities.

Airnow, part of the global technology group Airnow Plc, linked up with The Disabilities Trust in February 2021 in order to increase the robustness of the charity’s cybersecurity and improve the sustainability and green credentials of its IT infrastructure.

Founded over 40 years ago, The Disabilities Trust currently operates from over 70 sites across the UK and will be opening a new brain injury hospital in 2023 on the site of the former Terry’s chocolate factory in York.

The charity delivers care, rehabilitation and support services for hundreds of people living with an acquired brain injury, autism and learning or physical disabilities.

Graham Fisher, director of digital with The Disabilities Trust, explained: “The partnership we’ve formed is outstanding and includes an element of pro bono work. In a short space of time Airnow has become an extension of our own operations and an example to all third sector bodies of how affordable cybersecurity can be delivered to protect sensitive information.

“They have gone above and beyond what would normally be expected from a charity and private sector partnership.”

Leigh Clark, Cyber Security Consultant with Airnow, commented: “This is a partnership that is standing the test of time with both parties benefitting.

“We recognise that data security is critical for the charity in order to protect their operations, staff, volunteers and end users and our team is closely involved in the day-to-day management of their IT infrastructure with the aim of delivering best practice, sustainability and value.

“We are helping them to create a robust cybersecurity and data protection strategy. We are also looking forward to working with the Trust at their new venue in York with a view to ensuring it becomes the most secure brain trauma facility in the UK.”
