North Yorkshire architectural practice creates new jobs following surge in demand for services
A North Yorkshire architectural practice is expanding as demand for its specialist healthcare services continues to grow.
Harris Irwin recently welcomed nine members of staff to its team, as well as increasing the size of its northern head office on the outskirts of Richmond. Further job opportunities are expected as the practice continues to grow further.
The practice, which also has offices in London and Holland, has seen unprecedented demand for its services with many of the UK’s largest care home operators choosing Harris Irwin to design new care homes for the elderly, including dementia-friendly settings.
These include a new luxury 60-bedroom care home in Surrey, which it has designed on behalf of Barchester Healthcare, and an 80-bedroom home in Sheffield, which was designed for its operator Cinnamon Care.
As well as adding to its 40-strong team, Harris Irwin has also expanded its head office, occupying an adjoining room at Aske, which has effectively doubled its office space.
Mike Irwin, director Harris Irwin said: “Despite the pandemic, our services have thankfully continued to be in demand, and this is reflected by the fact we have been able to add to our staff team and increase our office space.
“We have carved out a niche in care home design and around 80 per cent of our work is through repeat commissions from clients in the sector.
“We are delighted to have been able to continue and expand on our existing client relationships, as well as welcoming new clients.
“It’s an exciting time for the practice and we’re looking forward to growing further in 2022.”
