North East council announces £500k grant for creative businesses

The North of Tyne Culture and Creative Investment Programme has today launched a £500k grants initiative to support creative freelancers and businesses.

Delivered by Creative UK and funded by the North of Tyne Combined Authority, the Culture and Creative Investment Programme was established in 2021 to offer first of its kind financial and business support to those working in the cultural and creative industries in North Tyneside, Northumberland and Newcastle.

The Programme’s new package of grants are intended to support eligible businesses to develop their creative and commercial ideas further, creating opportunities for future sustainability and growth. Applications for grants of up to £5k and strategic grants of up to £25k are now open.

Carol Bell OBE, strategic engagement lead, North of Tyne at Creative UK, said: “We are delighted to launch this new package of grants for the North of Tyne’s cultural and creative sector.

“By supporting freelancers and organisations to develop and grow their innovative business ideas, we can ensure a more resilient and sustainable future for creative businesses, as well as increased opportunity for cultural engagement throughout the North of Tyne Combined Authority area.”
