Great British Classic Comes To The Rescue
Fish and chip shop Battersby’s came to the rescue of cut-off Crowhurst care home Edendale Lodge during the recent storms.
The Hastings based chippy came to the rescue after the care home’s power was cut off during the storm leaving them with no way to cook dinner for the 21 residents.
Finding themselves without any power due to the storms, home manager Theresa reached out the local community. Eager to help and make sure no elderly person went without their dinner owner of Battersby’s kept the fryer on to make individual meals for the residents at the Station Road Care Home.
Theresa Toll, Manager at Edendale Lodge Care Home says: “We really can’t thank them enough. We lost electricity and water during the storm. Battersby’s were only too happy to help us make sure everyone had a pleasing hot meal. They even offered to continue to help throughout the weekend preparing our food. I’d just like to say thank you for the incredible community spirit and assistance from Battersby’s, it was so very welcome, especially after we had been refused help by a very well known local supermarket!”
