Green partnership with band for Europe’s biggest manufacturer and supplier of bird food,

An environmentally aware band from North Shields are encouraging their fans to do their bit for nature by giving away green goodies. But the freebies aren’t badges, stickers or other rock merchandise, Hector Gannet are giving away wild flower seeds.

The band have earned a well-deserved reputation for their musical talent and in particular the themes and subjects of their writing, from tracks about the Farne Islands to the mighty majesty of whales and the geology of Northumberland to their the latest single “The Eighth Day” which examines the enormity of space and the relative insignificance of mankind, the band have a very firm environmental conscience which has attracted the attention of major figures including naturalist Chris Packham. Their stance has also given them an official partnership with Europe’s biggest manufacturer and supplier of bird food, Vivara who have donated wild flower seeds for the band to give away to the audiences on their current tour.

Vocalist Aaron Duff said: “The idea of the seeds is for everyone to simply sprinkle them in their gardens or on a piece of waste land so that the flowers grow. Once they are in flower, insects such as bees and butterflies will thrive from them. It’s a simple gesture that will have great benefits for nature.”

The band has also pledged to raise funds and awareness for two nature loving organisations. Wild Intrigue, who specialise in urban safaris and nature treks and the British Divers Marine Life Rescue who come to the aid of stricken or injured marine mammals such as seals, dolphins, and whales.
