Plans greenlit for 64 new North London homes on former Enfield hotel site

Enfield Council has granted planning permission for 64 new homes on the site of a former hotel in Enfield, North London.

Bellway North London has received the go-ahead for the development of The Ridgeway in Enfield Chase, where the Royal Chace Hotel is located. Old Royal Chace, as Bellway’s development is to be known, will comprise a collection of one and two-bedroom apartments, and two and three-bedroom houses.

Ali Maruf, managing director of Bellway North London, said: “The planning committee’s decision to grant permission for Old Royal Chace means we can now move forward with our exciting plans to transform this vacant former hotel site into a vibrant new neighbourhood.

“Work to demolish the hotel buildings will begin shortly and once this is completed we will move onto the site to start construction of the first homes. We expect to welcome the first residents at Old Royal Chace into their completed properties in the summer of 2023.

“We believe Old Royal Chace is an ideal location to meet the demand from homebuyers in Enfield and the wider North London and Hertfordshire area. Our research indicates that the site will be particularly popular with young families and commuters as it is surrounded by countryside yet still well connected to Enfield town centre and Central London.

Of the 64 homes being built at Old Royal Chace, Bellway is set to provide 23 as affordable housing for rent or shared ownership. The 3.7-acre site will also include a 102-bedroom care home facility being built by Signature Senior Lifestyle.

Bellway is set to begin construction work this summer, with the first homes going on sale before the end of this year.
