Innovative Care Recruitment Initiative Launched For North East London

Care Providers Voice (CPV) has spent the last 2 years listening to and sharing the views of Care Providers across North East London, to those in the CCG, Local and National Government and the newly created Integrated Care System. Making the case for additional support to providers, who ultimately care for the most vulnerable in our society.

There are few issues that currently exercise providers more than the recruitment of good quality staff with a vacancy rate across North East London of 11%. It is with back drop that Care Provider Voice is hugely excited to launch their initiative to support providers to find the next generation of staff. The project was recently launched at the new Exchange Ilford Jobcentre supporting Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge care providers to recruit.

The tri-borough Local Authorities and their Job Brokerage Team, the Department for Work and Pensions and the BHR Training Hub. The Care Recruitment Initiative aims to address recruitment and retention needs within Social Care providing a matching service for employers and individuals by promoting the web of opportunities for employment but also placements and apprenticeships.

With support from Skills For Care and funding received from Barking and Dagenham, Havering, and Redbridge Councils Workforce Recruitment and Retention Fund, the initiative will provide care providers with a platform to advertise their apprenticeship and job opportunities in one central place making it much easier for those eager to work in social care access the breadth of opportunities across all boroughs.

Tayvanie Nagendran, Co-Chair of the Care Providers’ Voice says: “The past two years have highlighted the role our care services have in supporting vulnerable adults and also the importance of care providers supporting one another. I feel lucky to have been connected to my Co-Chair Mike Armstrong through Ali Rusbridge at Skills for Care and then in turn meeting likeminded John Timbs and Pooja Barot who are now fellow Directors at CPV. Our objectives are to (i) ensure care providers’ voices are heard (ii) provide resources to support providers (iii) increase and develop a sustainable care workforce. The care sector employs more people than the NHS and today marks the beginning of our Care Recruitment Initiative to not only get people applying to work in care but also to improve the profile of social care. It is an exciting sector to be a part of that has many opportunities for anyone interested in being proud to care. I know I am.”

Mike Armstrong the Co-Chairman said “We are over the moon that the Local Authorities have come together with Care Providers Voice to look at how we can take a more long term view on social care, recognising we can do so much more together”.

The Care Provider’s Voice is actively lobbying and working with local borough councils, CCG’s, NHS Trusts and the Department of Health to ensure they are part of the decision making process. For further information please visit the website: www.cpvnel.co.uk.
