Former WWII equipment production site transformed into London apartment complex
Bellway London have almost completed the transformation of the former Maybrey Foundry site, bringing over 150 new apartments to the area.
The new development of 159 new homes is situated on Worsley Bridge Road Sydenham. Made up 108 private, and 51 affordable homes, the apartments will be available for rent or shared ownership.
The site, which sits on the former Henderson Biomedical building was orginally built in the 1930s. The site - now known as Maybrey Works - was used to produce casting equipment for the armed forces during the Second World War.
In 2019, when the former Maybrey Foundry buildings became disused, Bellway purchased the brownfield site, which now includes 108 private apartments and 51 affordable homes for rent or shared ownership.
To reflect recent work place changes, residents at Maybrey Works will have access to a dedicated work hub, providing them with ultrafast broadband to use when to work from home, without having to leave the building.
They will also have access to a private gym and concierge area all of which will launch in the coming months.
Emma Hamlett, Sales Director for Bellway London, said: “Construction work at Maybrey Works began back in 2019 and is now coming to an end.
“Not only has Bellway been able to provide 159 new apartments, the development also features excellent amenities, including the work hub, gym and concierge service, along with cycle storage, parking spaces, and central communal gardens.
“Many apartments have views of the pool river and surrounding green space from their balcony or terrace.
“The development’s location, next to Lower Sydenham Station, is already enabling our newest residents to make the most of the direct line to London Bridge…proving popular with buyers looking to commute into the city for work, and those who need direct access to the centre of London”
