This week’s North East appointments

This week’s round up of North East appointments includes Anglo Scottish Asset Finance, Richard Reed Solicitors and Urban Green Newcastle. Read on to find out more.

Charlotte Enright, Anglo Scottish Asset Finance

Chester-le-Street-based Anglo Scottish Asset Finance has announced the appointment of Charlotte Enright as business development manager and sustainability lead.

Charlotte, who has previously worked at a top North East energy company supporting businesses looking to achieve a carbon-neutral status, has been brought in as Anglo Scottish looks to be at the forefront of a new standard for sustainable investing.

As part of her role, Charlotte is looking to build a portfolio of clients keen to switch to more efficient ways of operating, including investment in electric vehicles and energy efficient machinery.

Charlotte said: “Sustainability is, arguably, the biggest challenge UK business faces, providing huge opportunity for those that address operational inefficiencies face-on.

“We are still at the beginnings of the move to making business sustainable and those that act ahead of their competitors will benefit hugely. This is especially true for those that regularly go to tender to win contracts. I would encourage all that are looking to address inefficiencies, to reach out for an initial obligation-free chat.”

David Foster, managing director, Anglo Scottish Asset Finance, added: “Charlotte’s appointment comes at a time when UK businesses are aware they need to take stock of their energy expenditure. It is our aim at Anglo Scottish to be at the forefront of the move to make the UK a sustainable place to do business.”

Kat Moody, Richard Reed Solicitors

Richard Reed Solicitors, based at Frederick Street, Sunderland has been joined by dispute resolution and employment law solicitor, Kat Moody. Originally from Sunderland, Kat has come to Richard Reed from a Peterlee law firm and will now work alongside directors Barry Wood and Phil Moir as part of the dispute resolution team.

The solicitor has worked for both private and commercial clients on a range of issues including employment law, professional negligence, debt recovery, landlord and tenant work and contested probate and will be bringing these skills to Richard Reed.

She said: “The on-going impact of the pandemic means that employers have to take into consideration their staff’s health or what might be an employee’s disability.

“As well as having to comply with health and safety regulations for their staff, employers must also be careful that they are not discriminating against someone who has a disability – which can cover a multitude of conditions. Having the ability to get proper legal advice and support is what RR Protect is all about and it’s very exciting for me to work in this area.”

Phil Moir said: “Our dispute resolution and employment law department is getting increasingly busy and with the launch of RR Protect, we are already seeing a number of businesses getting on board who recognise the value of this service.

“It’s the perfect time to have someone with the experience and knowledge that Kat has become part of our team and we know she will be a huge asset.”

Carol Pyrah, Urban Green Newcastle

Urban Green Newcastle, the charity responsible for the management of Newcastle’s 33 parks and over 60 of its allotment sites, has announced Carol Pyrah, executive director of Historic Coventry Trust, as its new chief executive.

Carol brings a wealth of experience in the charity, heritage and conservation sectors having held senior positions at both English Heritage and Historic England.

Her new role at Urban Green Newcastle marks a return to the North East for Carol, who spent more than 15 years working in the region before moving to the West Midlands to head up Historic Coventry Trust.

Jim Beirne MBE, chair of trustees at Urban Green Newcastle said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Carol Pyrah as our new Chief Executive. Carol will be familiar to some as she spent a considerable time in the North East working as a senior figure within Historic England and English Heritage.

“Carol is driven by a love of place; landscapes and buildings alike; and the Trustees and staff of Urban Green Newcastle are excited to be working with her.”

Carol said: “I am delighted to be joining Urban Green Newcastle at this exciting stage in its development and to be returning to the North East.

“If the pandemic taught us anything, it is the value of our local green spaces to the health and wellbeing of local communities. I am looking forward to leading the work to ensure that Newcastle’s parks and allotments are healthy, safe, welcoming places to be, and havens for biodiversity.”
