North East structural engineers celebrate strong growth
A North East engineering firm has seen a strong performance by its structures division as it continues to invest and expand its regional and national operations on the back of new work.
Newcastle-based RWO has more than doubled the size of its structures team in the last six months, up from three to seven people, following more than £500,000 worth of additional revenue secured for its structural engineering operations.
The news follows the expansion of the team with the recent appointment of Andy Gibson as associate director along with John Atkinson and Liam Turnbull as structural technicians among other new starters.
Targeting further growth in the next six months, the company works with several developers, leading house builders, housing authorities and construction companies, providing civil and structural engineering support from pre-planning stage through to completion.
Over the last 12 months, this has seen work completed on a £12m healthcare facility in Northamptonshire for Metnor Construction, a new data centre in North London - also for Metnor Construction - and several refurbishment and reclad schemes in the south of England on behalf of United Living.
In addition to this, work on behalf of Karbon Homes, which is developing 107 new homes on land at Roseberry College in Pelton, County Durham, together with affordable housing projects by Vistry Partnerships and several new residential developments by Bellway Homes and Barratt Developments has also boosted structures revenue.
RWO, which employs a total of 30 people across all its Newcastle and Leeds operations, will continue to invest in its team, recruiting for engineers and specialist technicians to support demand despite challenging conditions.
Managing director Ross Oakley said that the company’s success is based on the ability of the structures division to deliver services that add value and provide effective engineering solutions for complex problems.
Ross added, “we really understand the importance and value of what we do for our clients. They benefit from expertise and experience, which is why we have invested in building a skilled and talented team; it’s the linchpin of providing top quality advice to our clients.
“Despite the on-going challenges we remain positive about the future and will continue to build on our successes to date, adding more senior experience to our team to improve further services to both current and new clients.”
