Coley Porter Bell appoints Joe Thomas as Global Head of Marketing and New Business
Global branding agency Coley Porter Bell, part of Ogilvy, has announced the appointment of Joe Thomas as Global Head of Marketing and New Business. Based in London, Thomas will be responsible for developing UK and US marketing and new business strategies to drive growth and continue building Coley Porter Bell’s reputation as experts in delivering immersive branding for clients.
Thomas was previously Managing Director at PR agency Persuasion Communications where he helped clients create and develop effective marketing and communication strategies to help businesses deliver growth.
He has worked across multiple leading agencies including J Walter Thompson (now Wunderman Thompson) and headed up marketing and new business at AnalogFolk during an incredible period of success and growth. Starting his career in journalism, Thomas worked for titles including Marketing and Campaign.
Thomas brings a fresh approach and deep insights across the omni-channel media landscape, with expertise in building and developing brands across it.
This is a newly created role within Coley Porter Bell’s leadership team and is testament to the business’ exponential growth and success over the past three years – across an array of clients including Tesco, The Post Office, Lego and Shell in the UK, as well as Merck, Enterprise Holdings, Nationwide and Martin Guitars in the US. Coley Porter Bell’s ambition is to double the size of the global business over the next three years and having a dedicated marketing and new business leader across both markets is pivotal for this growth trajectory.
Thomas will work closely with Jenn Szekely, Managing Partner USA, and report to CEO Vicky Bullen in the UK.
Vicky Bullen, CEO said: “Joe has exactly the right combination of new business and marketing skills that we need to continue our three-year global growth trajectory. He brings a breadth of honed communication and storytelling skills, as well as a great pedigree in leading marketing and new business. But most importantly Joe has the hunger, ambition and ‘can-do’ attitude that we need to continue to propel us forward, to build our reputation and connect with new clients to grow our business.”
Jenn Szekely, Managing Partner USA added: “Joe is an excellent choice and having someone with such communication excellence to focus on building our immersive branding reputation will be a huge asset to the team.”
Joe Thomas, commenting on his appointment said: “I’ve always admired Coley Porter Bell and its excellent work creating brands people love. I’m looking forward to supporting Vicky and the brilliant team with its ongoing momentum, helping to raise the reputation of an already renowned agency in the branding and design world.”
