Hampshire housebuilder celebrates Queen’s Jubilee with Big Tree Plant

Barratt Homes’ Harbour Place development in Bedhampton took part in a ‘Jubilee Big Tree Plant’ to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, last week, with the Mayor of Havant overseeing the proceedings.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of The Queen’s reign, Barratt Homes have planted over 1,500 trees in communities across Britain, including at its new development in Bedhampton on Tuesday 31st May.

The ‘Jubilee Big Tree Plant’ saw the country’s largest housebuilder plant trees to recognise the Queen’s wish to create a legacy for future generations.

Jon Green, Barratt Homes Marketing Director, Southampton Division, said: “Her Majesty The Queen has been a constant positive force in all of our lives since taking the throne in 1953. We wanted to recognise her incredible service to the country and her communities by fulfilling her wish to plant trees that improve the sustainability of the local environment.

“It was wonderful to welcome the Mayor along to this celebratory event at Harbour Place, and to bring together residents and staff to mark the Queen’s Jubilee.”

The Mayor of Havant, Cllr Diana Patrick, was delighted to take part in the special occasion, and said: “Planting more trees has huge environmental and mental wellbeing benefits, and to be a part of Barratt’s ‘Big Tree Plant’ in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, has been a real honour.”

As the biggest plants on the planet, trees give us oxygen, store carbon, stabilise the soil and give life to the world’s wildlife.

Throughout her reign, The Queen has planted more than 1,500 trees all over the world and has spoken alongside Sir David Attenborough of the importance of trees in the Earth’s future. Her Platinum Jubilee will be celebrated across the country during the extended bank holiday weekend at the beginning of June.

Barratt Homes has continued its celebration of the Platinum Jubilee by becoming a long-term partner of the Royal Horticultural Society, whose patron is the Queen. Barratt Homes, which was named Sustainable House Builder of the Year, will sponsor the water feature within the show-shopping Paradise Garden at RHS Bridgewater in Salford, the first urban garden created by the RHS.
