Celebrating ten years festival site at Queen Elizabeth Olympic park this Summer

Get set for Summer at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as we celebrate 10 Years since the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As part of Summer on the Park, and starting the day after The Great Get Together, we are bringing you the ‘Celebrating 10 Years’ Festival Site from Sunday 24 July to Monday 8 August, offering a mix of FREE screen and stage entertainment at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

London’s “iconic” summer of sport is being broadcast on the big screen, with footage of Team GB and Paralympics GB winning gold, silver and bronze at the London 2012 Games, not forgetting highlights such as Super Saturday and the ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In addition to the screen, visitors can immerse themselves in a line-up of off-screen activities. We’re talking; fitness workshops, The Tumbleator (a giant conveyer belt), live performances from UK Skiffle-Pop band Thrill Collins, as well as some other great bands and live DJs.

Kicking off the Summer Holidays, kids are welcome throughout the festival period and there is plenty for them to do during the day. There will be garden games and other participatory activities, a family rave, and Wonderstruck will be performing their crazy science show (they’re going to blow up a bowl of cereal).

Lyn Garner, chief executive of the London Legacy Development Corporation, said, “what better way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the London Games than with 16 days of fun, entertainment, sport and culture? It’s a chance for everyone to relive their wonderful memories of 2012 and to make brand new ones here at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.”

The ‘Celebrating 10 Years Festival Site’ is part of a Summer on the Park Campaign and follows on from two key 10 Years On anniversary events.

On Friday 22 July Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan will join east Londoners in lighting an Anniversary Legacy Flame next to London Stadium to mark the tenth anniversary of the start of the Games.

There will be dance workshops for all the family, street theatre, circus skills and storytelling from Discover Storytelling Centre. Attendees will also be able to get active and have a go at a range of Olympic and Paralympic sports including cycling, track races and tennis and so much more.
