Restored former 12th century abbey wins 'Muddy Award' for best hotel in Warwickshire and the West Midlands
An historic hotel near Coventry has been crowned best hotel in Warwickshire and the West Midlands as part of the annual ‘Muddy Awards’.
Coombe Abbey Hotel was a finalist in the category for Best Hotel/Inn with more than 30 bedrooms.
Rebecca Freeman, Head of Marketing at Coombe Abbey Hotel, said: “We are over-the-moon to have won this award which recognises the dedication and hard work of all our staff at the hotel post-Covid. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for us.
“Coombe continues to diversify with the opening of a new on-site artisan shop, florist and monthly artisan market, all supporting local independent producers, as well as hosting community events – we have an MS charity walk on July 2.”
Muddy Stilettos has just revealed the winners for its annual ‘Muddy Awards’ which recognise lifestyle businesses across 28 counties. A whopping 75,000 businesses were nominated and 765,000 votes were cast across the country in 27 categories including best art space, bar, beauty salon and boutique stay.
Coombe Abbey was one of five hotels nominated across the region in the best hotel category including The Telegraph Hotel - Coventry, Mallory Court Hotel and Spa in Leamington Spa, and The Arden Hotel and Hotel Indigo in Stratford-upon-Avon. Laura Kearns, Editor of Muddy Stilettos Warwickshire and West Midlands, is hosting a Winners’ Drinks at Wootton Park in Wootton Wawen on July 6.
She said: “The ethos of Muddy Stilettos is all about celebrating and supporting the most unique, interesting, brilliant local businesses, and we hope that this award will give Coombe Abbey a real boost. The public response this year has been incredible, with over 750,000 people around the country voting across the 28 Muddy Stilettos regional county sites.”
Coombe Abbey Hotel will now automatically be put through to the inaugural National Muddy Stilettos Awards 2022.
Editor-in-chief Hero Brown, said: “These will be judged by our experienced Muddy Editors through the summer and five successful finalists per category will be shortlisted to go into the National Finals announced in September, with the ‘Best of the Best’ Winners crowned in October.”
The awards are this year sponsored nationally in partnership with award-winning self-care platform Healthily and locally by Birmingham Airport.
