Adlington Retirement Living wins planning for its retirement community in Knaresborough
Adlington Retirement Living, which designs, builds and operates Independent Retirement Communities across the North West, Yorkshire and the Midlands, has won planning to build 61 new homes in the picturesque town of Knaresborough, in Yorkshire.
As a future-facing company with a superb track record, the family owned and run business has launched 14 successful Independent Retirement Communities so far, and has more than 850 happy homeowners.
The Knaresborough location will be Adlington’s 20th retirement community, as the business currently has five sites under construction.
Recently opened communities include The Woodlands in Heaton Mersey, Stockport, and Jacobs Gate in Sheffield, Yorkshire. More Adlington Retirement Living communities are due to open in the next two years, including The Sidings in Lytham, Lancashire, and The Spindles in Menston, Yorkshire.

Adlington Retirement Living is one of the top three companies in the UK with a dedicated team that design, build, and operate Independent Retirement Communities. In the past five years it has grown from 45 employees to a team of more than 120, including its in-house land team, planners, architects, designers, construction team, and sales and marketing colleagues.
In 2019, the business launched Adlington Management Services, to provide a consistent, outstanding service to its homeowners. They are responsible for the practical aspects of running a retirement community, such as maintaining the building, as well as the more emotional aspects. That part of their role is all about creating a caring, supportive environment to positively contribute to the health, happiness and well-being of homeowners. A recent homeowner survey found that 100% would recommend living in an Adlington Retirement Living community to friends or family.
