Dorset developers’ Board of Directors take on charity skydive
A team of six directors from a leading Dorset housebuilder are swapping the board room table for a parachute as they take to the skies to raise £10,000 for the Saints Foundation.
The board of Directors from Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Southampton division are used to keeping their feet firmly on the ground when it comes to leading the successful five star housebuilder in delivering top quality homes. But on 5th August they will be heading to the Army Parachute association at Netheravon airfield to complete a different kind of mission.
The team will board a light aircraft that will climb to 13,500 feet before each plunging to the ground, freefalling before the parachute will open and they can finally breathe a sign of relief and enjoy spectacular views.
The skydive will be held in aid of the Saints Foundation, Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ chosen charity for 2022, which works to transform lives in and around Southampton, helping people fulfil their potential to be more involved, healthier and empowered members of the community.
Tammy Bishop said: “I am terrified of heights and I’ve barely climbed more than a step ladder. My husband and kids have been backing me all the way though – probably because they are expecting a life insurance pay out if the parachute doesn’t open! They will be very surprised when they find out I’ve actually left everything to the Saints Foundation if I don’t make it!”
Tammy added: “Joking aside, it’s a great cause, and we wanted to do something that would really make a mark and encourage everyone to put their hands in their pockets. It will be a challenge for all of us to overcome, but we are committed to the cause and we’re looking forward to completing it together!”
Jazz Bhatti, Fundraising and Partnerships Manager at Saints Foundation, said: “Wow what a challenge! It takes real courage to take on something like a skydive – especially for first timers. The fact that the team is willing to put their fears aside to raise such a huge sum of money for the Saints Foundation really is impressive and we are extremely grateful – we cannot wait to see the photos!”
