This week’s round up of London appointments includes Walr, HiveMind and Glenny LLP. Read on to find out more.
Richard Thornton, Walr
Walr, the res-tech company behind the data creation platform, has welcomed Richard Thornton to its board. Thornton joins Keziah Wonstolen as non-executive director at Walr.
Richard joins with over 20 years’ experience in consulting and commercial roles, within the data and insights industry; most recently as an operating partner for J12. Prior to this, Thornton was part of the management team at Cint Group and led the business to a successful Initial Public Offering in February 2021.
He commented: “In less than two years since inception, Walr has shown astounding growth and potential. I haven’t ever seen a business scale this quickly and effectively from a standing start, underpinned by an obsessive focus on customer success.
“Lewis and the team are creating something special, so it is an honour for me to join the board at such a crucial point, as it aims to establish itself as a key technology player in the insights sector.”

Dan Rasmus, HiveMind
Technology and design consultancy HiveMind has recruited a leading global strategic expert to support its growth plans. Dan Rasmus, a former director of business Insights at Microsoft who worked closely with its CEO Bill Gates, joins as HiveMind’s new director of insight and advisory.
Dan is a “global leader” in the field of strategic story-telling developing scenarios to analyse economic, technological and geo-political trends to help organisations adapt to future challenges. He has authored several non-fiction books including Listening to the Future, which chronicles insights from his time at Microsoft.
Over his career Rasmus has held a number of internationally-focused leadership roles including Chief Marketing Officer at GlobalEnglish, Vice President and Research Director at Forrester Research, and Chief Knowledge Officer of the Giga Information Group.
HiveMind chief Executive Lyndon Docherty commented: “Having worked with Dan for many years, I am delighted that he has now joined our management team and will put his knowledge and experience to the fore in helping develop our proposition as we grow our global business.”
Dan added: “HiveMind is a great business whose expertise and approach brings real value to its client base. I know the company well and I’m therefore very excited about taking on this new role and working closely with Lyndon and his team to support its ambitious growth strategy.”
Luke Thrumble, Glenny LLP
Glenny LLP has appointed Luke Thrumble as head of planning, who has been brought in to head up and grow the planning team. Joining from DP9 Limited, Luke is an RTPI accredited Town Planner with a “wealth of experience” spanning both the public and private sectors.
In his career, Luke has advised on the development potential of new sites coming to the market, led planning discussions and negotiations with local authority offers at both pre-application and determination stages, coordinated complex planning applications, and provided advice on community infrastructure levy issues.
As head of planning, Luke will work across a broad portfolio of projects across Glenny’s regions where he will be the main point of contact for all planning advice, discussions, and negotiations with clients.
John Baker, partner at Glenny, said: “Luke is an experienced planner with a strong track record of delivering sound advice and planning solutions. Based primarily in the architecture team, Luke will bring together our planning and architectural services into one department, providing a strong synergy between these two service lines.”
Luke added: “Glenny has a fantastic reputation in the industry and I’m delighted to be heading up its planning function. As a firm, they’re able to provide a suite of solutions throughout the property cycle all under one roof – a huge benefit to clients who demand efficiency and results.”
