This week’s round up of North East appointments includes Building Design Northern, Seaward Electronics Ltd and TGA Consulting Engineers. Read on to find out more.
Darren Breslin, Building Design Northern
Engineering and Architecture firm, Building Design Northern (BDN), has hired Darren Breslin, as architect.
Darren, who studied at Belfast Ulster University and later moved to Newcastle for his postgraduate studies, has joined BDN from another leading North East practice. The chartered architect has spent four years assisting and project managing mixed-use master plans as well as residential and commercial schemes.
Joining the 24-strong team, Darren will work on a number of significant projects for BDN, including the development of designs for the hotly anticipated new food, drink and leisure venue at Sheepfolds.
Darren said: “I am delighted to be joining the ever-growing BDN team at an exciting time in their journey. I look forward to collaborating with their impressive client-list across a diverse portfolio of projects.”
Managing director of BDN, Richard Marsden, added: “It is great to see the expansion of our architectural department and welcome Darren to the team. We are delighted to have Darren on board and believe his skills and expertise will complement the team as the development at Sheepfolds progresses.”
Natalie Nichol, Seaward Electronic Ltd
County Durham based Seaward Electronic Ltd has appointed a senior executive to oversee its brand development and marketing as it invests further in growth and international expansion.
Natalie Nichol joins as marketing manager at the Peterlee firm in a move that will see her working alongside the senior management team to develop a new marketing and communications strategy.
She will also oversee a dedicated marketing team alongside planning new product launches and integrated communications for the company’s sector leading range of electronic test and measurement instruments used in a wide variety of electrical, medical, industrial and energy sector applications.
Bringing more than 17 years’ experience and expertise in business-to-business and consumer marketing to the role, a key task will be to develop Seaward’s position in the USA, where the company sees significant growth opportunities for its medical device and solar PV test equipment.
Natalie commented: “I am delighted to be joining Seaward, which has a very strong market presence. I am very excited about the future potential of the business and look forward to developing new strategies to help further raise the company’s profile and its position in the market.”
Emma Marshall and Will Powis, TGA Consulting Engineers
TGA Consulting Engineers, a Durham based provider of consulting engineering services, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, has made a senior appointment to support and grow its healthcare division.
Emma Marshall (pictured above) joins the business as national Healthcare Lead with over 15 years of experience and will be working on projects ranging from refurbishments to new builds for healthcare clients which include the NHS as well as private healthcare providers.
TGA has appointed Emma to work with existing clients, many of which have set carbon reduction targets ahead of 2025.
Emma will also be tasked with developing relationships with architects and project teams to deliver carbon reduction, decarbonisation and carbon quantification projects across the region, in addition to assisting in a senior management role in TGA’s Newcastle office.
Emma is joined by the newly appointed Will Powis, a senior electrical engineer who was recently taken on to support her with the delivery of healthcare projects, these key appointments forming part of a recruitment masterplan to grow the business in the next 12 months.
Speaking of her new role, Emma said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the team at TGA. They have a great reputation in the market and really look after their people. There is room to grow this division and with carbon net zero deadlines approaching, it’s an exciting time to be part of such a well-respected and forward-thinking company.”
