Darlington Business summit set to take place in October
Final preparations are underway for the first ever Darlington Business Summit set to take place from Wednesday 5 until Friday 7 October. The three-day event is a refreshed version of the popular Darlington Business Week and will offer business networking, advice, support and inspiration through a dedicated programme of events. All events this year will be in person and held at the Dolphin Centre.
The Summit begins on Wednesday 5 October with the DL Expo, organised by Darlington Business Club. This will celebrate and showcase a wide range of products and services from local businesses. The event will also help local businesses to share ideas and network with each other.
Thursday 6 October sees the return of the ever-popular Jobs Fair with over 45 employers, all with active job vacancies from a range of sectors, including construction, engineering, commercial and public services, with companies such as Cummins, The Civil Service, HC-One, Northumbrian Water, Redde Northgate, Teesside Airport and Aldi attending.
The final day on Friday begins with an event showcasing all of the business support available to businesses in Darlington and the local area, under one roof, along with a series of topical workshops. The Business and IP Centre Tees Valley will provide information on how to apply for funding, and what is needed to prepare.
This will be followed by a workshop focused on top tips for marketing a business and increasing sales, as well as a talk on how to attract new staff and access training support.
The week closes with the highly popular Darlington Economy Update event, with Ian Williams, Darlington Borough Council’s Chief Executive leading the presentation. Joining him will be Councillor Alan Marshall, the council’s cabinet member for economy and guests from the Government’s Darlington Economic Campus.
This event will give an overview of what is happening across the borough and highlight the new developments and opportunities ahead.
Councillor Alan Marshall, Darlington Borough Council’s cabinet member for economy, said: “The Summit will give local businesses the chance to find out more about what’s on offer to help them thrive and succeed in Darlington. We have listened to their challenges and put together a programme that reflects this.
“It is an exciting time to be in business in Darlington with the relocation of central government departments and the opportunities that this presents. Alongside this, we have new developments across the town offering fantastic business locations. I would strongly advise any local business owner to come along and find out what’s on offer.”
Ian Williams, the council’s chief executive added: “We are pleased to work alongside Darlington Business Club and the Darlington Economic Campus to share the positive future ahead for our borough. There are many opportunities arising for local businesses and for those considering a move to the borough and we are looking forward to showcasing them at this event.
“The last two years have posed many challenges to our local businesses and to the whole economy. The Darlington Business Summit will offer businesses a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the help and support on offer.”
