Superb Coffee, with a Little More Bite.
A famous landmark pub - turned coffee house, in North Shields has recently joined forces with a regional MasterChef, the Professionals Chef to increase their food offering and open the area up to a brand-new concept of street food.
Barista Boho, previously known as the old Alnwick Castle pub on Saville Street, North Shields was brought back to life in March 2022 by owners Karen Weech, Dan Brand and Mark Vernon.
After partnering with Dan Brand, an experienced barista and enthusiastic coffee-lover, Karen & Mark wanted to add to the vibrant North Shields area and bring the excitement of the food on the Quayside to the town centre, but with a superior twist.
Keen to get the right partner, Karen, Dan, Mark, and the Boho team have joined forces with passionate Chef Matei Baran and the venue will be serving his ever popular #PoshStreetFood menu.
Following on from the success of his latest book, Big Chef, Mini Chef, his venue in STACK, Seaburn, the pop-up street food vans he offers around the region, Chef Matei Baran certainly has his work cut out keeping those many plates spinning.
Chef Matei Baran also offers personal private and corporate catering, runs popular children’s cookery workshops in Sunderland and Middlesbrough and his latest venture, The Social and Kitchen in Pallion, Sunderland, Chef Matei Baran is the “ideal choice” for a collaboration, according to joint-owner Karen.
The premises in Saville Street dates back to the 1830’s when it was known as Alnwick Castle as the Duke of Northumberland originally owned it.
The popular coffee shop has earned a loyal following from fellow coffee-lovers and is a regular haunt for clients wanting quality coffee and has been attracting customers from Newcastle, and up & down the coast.
Joint-owner, Karen Weech said: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome Chef Matei Baran and his team to Barista Boho, our objective is to have a great place we would want to hang out in and dine at and we’re excited for our customers to check it out.”
The venue, which already hosts special themed nights with buskers, open mic comedy nights, jazz music, Sunday brunch unplugged sessions, photography and writing workshops, as well as networking opportunities with local business community like North Tyneside Business Forum, is a complete resource for the locals. It will start serving #PoshStreetFood from September 12th.
As the Fish Quay, Howard Street and Northumberland Square area is still in the midst of a multi-million-pound revitalisation project by North Tyneside Council, Barista Boho in collaboration with #PoshStreetFood by Chef Matei Baran, will be another terrific addition to the area.
Chef Matei Baran concluded:
“This is another exciting time for me and my team at #PoshStreetFood and we’re very excited to be working with Karen, Dan, Mark and their team at Boho.”
