Hampshire developers’ skydive raises £10,000 for Saints Foundation

Directors from a leading Hampshire housebuilder have raised a tremendous £10,000 for Saints Foundation, after they took on a charity skydive.

A team of six directors from Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes’ Southampton division, swapped the board room table for a parachute earlier this month to compete their special fundraising mission for the charity of Southampton FC.

On Friday 5th August, the team headed to the Army Parachute association at Netheravon airfield, where they boarded a light aircraft. Climbing to 13,500 feet, each then made a nerve-wracking jump, plunging to the ground. After freefalling for 40 seconds there was a chance to breathe a sigh of relief as their parachutes opened and they floated to landing.

Jumping in aid of the Saints Foundation, the group of directors were raising money for Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ chosen charity for 2022, which works to transform lives in and around Southampton, helping people fulfil their potential to be more involved, healthier, and empowered members of the community. Tammy Bishop, Barratt and David Wilson Homes Sales Director, Southampton Division, was one of those taking to the skies. Facing her fear of heights head on, it was the team’s fundraising mission which spurred her on.

She said: “I’m terrified of heights, so this was a huge challenge for me, and I was so nervous!! Knowing I was raising money for the Saints Foundation made it totally worth it though, And, although I probably won’t ever skydive again, it was honestly one of the most exhilarating experiences I’ve ever had. I’m really proud of all of us today.” Jazz Bhatti, Fundraising and Partnerships Manager at Saints Foundation, said: “Wow – thank you so much to Barratt and David Wilson Homes. The fact that these six directors were willing to put their fears aside to raise such a huge sum of money for the Saints Foundation really is impressive and we are extremely grateful!”

Saints Foundation uses the power and passion of Southampton FC to make a difference across the city. The charity works with people of all ages and abilities across Southampton, focusing on those that need its support the most.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes are building new homes across Hampshire, including at Saxon Corner in the coastal town of Emsworth, and at Harbour Place in Bedhampton.
