Google HQ London to host final of “innovative” start-up pitching competition

Google HQ in London will host the final of The Pitch, an annual competition that gives start-ups the support they need to create an attention-grabbing pitch and get investment.

The most innovative start-ups have been selected to pitch live to a panel of investors in a series of live events as part of the UK’s largest pitching competition.

London finalists will pitch their business in 90 seconds, followed by a live Q&A with a panel of judges, including Simon Squibb of The Purposeful Project, and Tom March of Redrice Ventures.

Following more than 500 competition entries, The Pitch is travelling across the UK to hear 60 start-ups pitch in regional final events in Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Edinburgh. The winner could win a £5k grant for their business.

Finalists from the 2021 competition have already raised more than £1.3m through connections made at The Pitch, which is supported by its partners Sage, Crowdcube, Haines Watts, Agora Talent, AVAMAE and Fiverr.

Chris Goodfellow, founder and CEO of Inkwell which organises The Pitch, said: “This will be our first year in Birmingham and we’re excited to take The Pitch to England’s ‘second city’. Birmingham has been named as second best tech destination outside of London, so we can’t wait to hear what this year’s local start-ups have in store for us.”

Tom March, founder of Redrice Ventures and The Pitch London judge 2022, commented: “Redrice purely invests in purpose-driven consumer brands and related technology companies. I always advise founders to do their homework and look at what the individual funds are looking for.”

Simon Squibb, founder of The Purposeful Project and The Pitch London judge 2022, added: “The Purposeful Project is on a mission to help 10m people start and grow a business and help solve unemployment. When I’m looking to invest in founders I always want to know what destination the founder has in mind - what’s the end conclusion?”
