Over 100 traders announced for Morpeth Food and Drink Festival 2022
Thousands of food lovers are expected to descend on Morpeth next weekend as the town gears up to host their annual food festival following a two-year break.
Over 100 traders will line Bridge Street on the weekend of Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 October. Foodie lovers can expect to find local produce and crafts with an additional Farmers’ Market, Street Food Quarter, Cookery Demonstration Kitchen, Live Music Stage and a Boozy Bar.
Starting on Saturday and running throughout Sunday, the cookery demonstration kitchen will be hosted by BBC Newcastle’s Matt Bailey and has been sponsored by Morpeth Town Council. Local chefs will be showcasing a menu of different dishes that can be tasted on the day.
Centre manager for Sanderson Arcade and organiser of the festival, Lottie Thompson, commented: “We can’t wait for next weekend when we see the town come to life once again with our foodie lovers enjoying all the wonderful producers from our county.
“We are hugely grateful to our sponsors Morpeth Town Council and Rutherford’s, plus all of the partners and traders, who without their support this event would not be possible.”
Traders will be travelling to the event from across the county and beyond selling homemade brownies and other baked goods as well as local cheeses and meats. Bakes By KH, The Brownie Bar and North Chocolates are amongst some of the traders selling sweet treats, as well as Le Mini Macaron and Simply Cheesecake.
The festival will also see the return of local traders such as Calders Kitchen, The Cherry Tree Durham and Fat Lass Preserves. Weardale Cheese and Northumbrian Sausage Company will be providing local meats and cheeses. Pie Demand, Rose Cottage Pantry and The Flour Room will join them serving local savoury favourites.
The weekly Farmers’ Market, which takes place every Saturday, will be running in its usual spot in the Market Place and will feature regular Morpeth traders including Geordie Bangers, The Yolker and Murphy’s Kitchen.
A selection of vendors selling alcohol will also be attending this year, including The Fruit Kitchen, Muckle Brewing, O’Donnell Moonshine and AB Gold Rum.
Found at the bottom of Bridge Street the Street Food Quarter will be serving everything on-the-go from freshly made Vegan Hot Dogs from inBread Kitchen, Duck wraps and loaded fries from Hatch 76 and Gooey Mac N Cheese from Redheads Mac N Cheese.
The festival’s Boozy Bar provided by Caps Off will be located next to the Street Food Quarter and the Rutherfords Live Music Stage which will be the perfect place for an afternoon tipple accompanied by a running programme of live entertainment.
