Sunderland Restaurant Week returns with over 50 venues taking part
North East foodies are preparing to “indulge their passion” as a bumper Sunderland Restaurant Week is set to return.
From this Saturday (September 17) to September 25, bars, café, restaurants and hotels across the city and beyond will be participating in the latest event which will see food fans able to sample a selection of cuisine for a reduced price.
55 places are set to be participating in this autumn event. New restaurants, old favourites and some which haven’t been involved for a while have signed up to take part.
From international street food to classic Italian, from American-style burgers to English favourites, from Indian offerings to “authentic” dishes from the Far East will all be on offer throughout the week. All of the venues are offering menus available at £5, £10 or £15, representing “incredible value”.
Restaurant Week is organised by Sunderland BID which has seen the event grow year on year and is “delighted” with the huge surge of interest.
Sharon Appleby, chief executive of Sunderland BID, commented: “We have around 50 different venues taking part this time round which really represents Sunderland’s fast growing restaurant scene. It’s fantastic to have had such a brilliant response and that so many places have been keen to take part.
“It’s not just good news for anyone that wants to dine out but it’s also great news for the local economy as Restaurant Week really does have a huge impact. We are looking forward to another great event.”
