BDO North raises over £25,000 for charity so far in 2022
A team of fundraisers from accountancy and business advisory firm, BDO, has raised more than £25,000 for charity so far in 2022, after completing their latest feat - the 170-mile Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge.
Staff from across BDO’s Northern offices in Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool have covered over 200 miles during the summer, raising thousands of pounds in aid of Blood Cancer UK and The Christie charity. The Christie charity supports the development of cancer prevention, treatment, research and education.
More than 50 BDO employees have taken on two charitable challenges, including the two-day cycle from Morecambe to Bridlington, crossing the width of the UK earlier this month, a spin bike cycle in the Leeds and Manchester offices, for all those who couldn’t take part in the actual ride, together with the 24-mile Yorkshire Peaks Challenge in June. The latest event has raised £7,000 for charity, with the three peaks challenge raising £6,000 – the total of which has been match-funded by BDO.
Ed Dwan, Head of BDO in the North West, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many people from across different teams and offices coming together in the name of charity. Through grit and determination, they’ve conquered two classic charity challenges and raised a significant sum of money for two very worthy causes.”
Dan Brookes, Tax Partner at BDO LLP in Leeds, added: “Well done to everyone who completed the Coast to Coast Challenge earlier this month. All riders did a fantastic job in crossing the finish line after 170 gruelling miles. Despite some very challenging British weather and a few punctures along the way, the team was in great spirits. Here’s to the next challenge!”
