The Journey To Fame Review

The Journey to Fame is a collection of short stories by Ololade Nafisat Ejemdibia. It comprises of three musings: Greatness, Dazzling Hope and Extraordinary.

The pocket book is here reviewed by Liz Evans, life coach, matriarch and retired CEO of a successful family business.

“I love reading. That’s the first thing you need to know about me. I read a lot. I also struggle to find content that I haven’t read something similar to before, as my appetite for literature is so big. Every time I pick up a book, I hold my breath a little to see if it will charm and enchant me, or if I will feel a sense of dejavu and boredom.

“I wanted to start by giving the author the benefit of the doubt. The short stories are billed as highlighting various challenges people tend to face before achieve wealth or fame. I hoping it is going to be raw, educated and honest. Whilst it is a good book, it is a little light on shock factor and impact, so I feel she could have elevated the rawness a bit more, and in places I hoped for a more detailed description.

“The first story ‘Greatness’ focuses on a girl who leaves a sad past and its battles behind her to be a successful medical student.

“Moving onto ‘Dazzling Hope’ there is grief due to a woman becoming widowed, but thanks to belief and letting go, her life turns around for the better.

“The book closes with ‘Extraordinary’, a story that focuses on three talented people who have had individual struggles, and shown determination to succeed.

“The writing and setting of the stories hail to Ololade’s Nigerian heritage, and to her religious background. All three stories read authentically, and is an experience that leaves hope and inspiration. The Journey to Fame gets a thumbs up from me, if you want to read something different, fresh and steeped in a culture that has real connectivity with heart, soul and God.”

Ololade Adebayo Ejemdibia has a master’s degree in logistics, data analysis and supply chain management from University of Bradford. A prolific writer, she has featured in a number of literary competitions and is a member of a numerous arts and culture organisations.
