Marylebone Square development to serve as “one and only true London village”
Concord London and Kier group were joined by The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Hamza Taouzzale last week, to celebrate the topping out of Marylebone Square, the last whole city block in W1 to be developed.
The 25,160 sq m nine storey, mixed use development comprises 54 “luxury” new-build homes and two storeys of boutiques and restaurants befitting of the so-called “one and only true London village”. The formalities were concluded with filling the last bit of the top concrete slab.
Chris Murray, managing director of Concord London, commented: “This topping out ceremony represents a very significant moment for both Marylebone Square and Marylebone as a whole as we are creating a whole new centre to an already bustling area full of amazing restaurants, shops and people.
“We have seen an impressive number of sales here at Concord as buyers see Marylebone as both a safe and smart investment in addition to being a wonderful place to live.”
Terry Hui, chairman, Concord Pacific Group of Companies, said: “This project has been a storybook opportunity and was born from a serendipitous series of events.

“We know how important this site is to Marylebone and W1 and we intend to pay homage to the site’s history by meticulously delivering high quality apartments and hosting only the best stores and eateries.”
Marylebone Square is positioned on an entire city block that has been vacant for over half a century and is now over 50 per cent sold with many purchases coming from existing Marylebone residents.
Local buyers are also said to be confident in the long term potential of investing in Marylebone as the property market acts as a micro-market, often bucking prime central London trends with its “continued price growth, strong demand and low stock”.
Designed by award-winning architect Simon Bowden of E8 Architecture, Marylebone Square offers a range of homes, from one to three bedroom apartments, and 12 two and three-bedroom penthouses. The development also boasts the new Marylebone Hall, a space specifically designed for wider community use.
