Influencer and celebrity brand creation agency creates jobs via £1.5m funding

London based influencer and celebrity brand creation agency Runway has received £1.5m in seed funding from venture capitalists, Fuel Ventures.

Runway, a product of global creative agency, Komodo, aims to simplify the process for content creators to create their own brands, by handling the entire end-to-end process of brand creation and management.

The company will use the investment to support its rapid growth and expansion plan. This includes moving into new markets, research and development into new verticals, supporting the current team and making senior hires to continue to drive scalability, opportunity and execution.

Runway is on an “impressive trajectory”, growing from a team of 8 to 23 over the last year, whilst working with “some of the world’s leading” influencers, celebrities, and sports stars around the world.

The funding will allow Runway to continue its rapid growth, acquire larger global headquarters in London Bridge and support existing staff with training and additional resources.

The funding has also allowed the agency to make a series of key senior hires, with the company thrilled to be welcoming three new members to the Runway team: Vaughn Harber, Tom Webb and Madeline George.

Vaughn Harber, who takes on the role of COO, is no stranger to building global brands, having previously been part of the team who helped Rihanna launch Savage X Fenty and Kate Hudson expand Fabletics globally.

Tom Webb comes in as CFO to support Runway through the overseeing of strategic modelling and growth, having impressive experience in corporate finance, overseeing multiple raises, mergers and acquisitions.

Madeline George joins the team as marketing director, with 12 years’ experience working in Australia, New Zealand and the UK for globally renowned brands; Boohoo Group, ASOS, Vodafone and Heathrow Airport.

Freddie Strange, co-founder of Runway, commented: “We’re thrilled to announce this exciting new stage for Runway. The business has already received huge interest, and this funding will allow us to continue our great work with new creators across more markets.

“We have high ambitions for the next 18 months, so we can’t wait to get started and see the business grow.”
