County Durham manufacturer celebrates doubled turnover after recruitment drive
In its 20th year in business, Bishop Auckland based Plastic Mouldings Northern Ltd (PMN) have bolstered post-pandemic growth doubling turnover in the last two years.
This “impressive” growth is further bolstered by staff expansion, bringing the workforce to 22 and new site acquisition, increasing its square foot to 45,000 and investment in key logistics.
PMN was set up in 2002 by Freddy Bourdais and Mark Rigg and has grown year on year ever since. PMN has established a “prominent reputation” across the manufacturing sector globally with customers and industry peers. This has led the firm to work with the likes of London Underground, McLaren, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, JCB and BAE Systems.
The main output at PMN is the production of vacuum formed plastic parts, which sees PMN supply “high quality and often very intricate” moulded parts to an array of industries. The vacuum forming specialists have over 150 years combined experience in the field and their experience in this area continues to “drive the company forward”.
The company supplies clients nationwide and internationally with recent client contracts established to Australia and New Zealand. It currently supplies to the automotive industry, defence, aeronautical, medical, precision engineering and food industry.
Freddy Bourdais, co-founder and sales director, Plastic Mouldings Northern Ltd, commented: “We are committed to bringing investment, growth and creating sustainable jobs to support the local economy and we are delighted with the direction of the company in the last 20 years.
“Collaboration and innovation has been key to our growth. We heavily invest in building relationships with our customer base and have built up many strong connections over the years. We very much look forward to embracing the next stage of expansion at PMN.”
Efficiency of service is another key aspect which has contributed to strong growth at PMN. The company has an established sales team operating across the UK, meaning it is able to offer a quick service and response times to customer enquiries thereby building in-person connections and relationships further.
Diversification is also another key mechanism of growth at the company, PMN is now the only stockist of new plastic containers and plastic pallet boxes in the North East. It is also the largest dealer of reconditioned plastic pallets in the UK and claims to be “at the forefront of providing a more cost-effective and yet still durable option for customers”.
