RVA celebrates Trainee Surveyors promotions to full status

Earlier in 2022, RVA Surveyors launched another successful Trainee Surveyor programme. This programme forms part of RVA’s wider plan to invest in new and existing employees throughout the year. Six trainees completed the six-month course.

Since the pandemic, RVA have almost tripled their workforce in a bid to meet increased client demand. The trainee surveyor programme is just one of the programmes that RVA run throughout the year to develop their teams. In September 2022, RVA won the Learning and Development Excellence Award from Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce for their growth of internal training programmes.

Split between classroom-style teaching, the office, and fieldwork, Richard Millington as Surveyor Trainer, along with the Surveyor Mentors, guided the trainees through the comprehensive six-month course. With both this theoretical and practical knowledge, the trainees were able to hone their skills before heading into the field solo. Even after the trainees graduated to probation status, Richard and the Surveyor Mentors were still available to them for help and advice.

Clare Whitfield, Head of Surveying and Operations, said:

“The revamped, internal surveyor programme was introduced in June 2021 as part of a more tailored approach to our Graduate Scheme. Our now fully-fledged surveyors have been fantastic throughout. Their dedication to their jobs and to helping each other, has seen them get to this point, and it is well-deserved. We look forward to introducing further schemes in the future.”

RVA’s Trainee Surveyors graduated to full-fledged status in September. Several of whom had their first reductions come through once training had finished. An astounding achievement for, at the time, only a month in the field.

The Trainee Surveyor programme was introduced by RVA as an extension of their Graduate scheme – aimed at expanding the business by investing in local people across England and Wales.
