Six figure recycling connectivity contract win for Gateshead IT specialist

North East IT specialist Advantex has won a six-figure contract to provide a package of superfast connectivity, network and access control equipment to a Teesside based advanced recycling facility, ReNew ELP, a subsidiary of Mura Technology.

The move sees the Gateshead based firm deploying internet connectivity, “state-of-the-art” IP cameras, IP audio and access control, cybersecurity subscriptions, server infrastructure and firewall technology to ReNew ELP.

The contract also covers system consultancy, design and development work, which will be undertaken by Advantex alongside installation and ongoing maintenance and support. The world’s first commercial-scale plant will use Mura’s specially-developed process - HydroPRSTM (Hydrothermal Plastic Recycling System).

This uses supercritical steam (high pressure and temperature) to convert waste plastics into fossil-replacement, liquid hydrocarbons products. These products can then be used to manufacture new plastics and other materials.

Investment in advanced technology will provide “fast, secure and reliable” connectivity across the ReNew ELP plant, which is based on the Wilton International site and the “highest levels of access control and cybersecurity” as the plant gears up to process 80,000 tonnes of waste plastic annually.

Currently employing 50 people and targeting a £6m turnover this year, ReNew ELP is the latest contract success for Advantex. The firm continues to see strong growth on the back of investment in a “highly skilled workforce”, new products and services, and a “healthy” forward orders book.

Advantex’s business development manager Scott Duncan commented: “This win showcases our expertise as leaders in connecting complex IT, communication and security systems into single easy to manage solutions.

“We continue to see demand from customers who are migrating to the latest digital technologies to secure fast, secure and cost-effective connectivity services.”

Rob Lye, principal electrical engineer at ReNew ELP, added: “Advantex worked hard to fully understand our needs and develop a strong partnership.

“They were sensitive to the challenges of working on a rapidly developing project, delivering a high quality and cost-effective solution to meet our current and future needs. It was a pleasure to work with everyone on the Advantex team.”
