KLM “brings the world closer to the local community” with new flights from Teesside Airport
An early morning flight making a welcome return will allow passengers to get to even more spots around the world from Teesside.
Teesside International Airport saw its KLM 6am flight start up again on Monday, October 31. The route opens the door to connecting flights from Amsterdam Schiphol to as far afield as Cape Town, New York JFK, and Mumbai.
The airline, which has flown out of Teesside for more than 24 years, will offer its dawn service to give people a chance to catch some winter sun with links onwards to Cancun, Barbados, and Rio De Janeiro. KLM has maintained a long-standing relationship with Teesside International Airport.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen commented: “Our airport is going from strength to strength and has welcomed a bumper crop of new destinations this summer. KLM has been a great supporter of our airport for many years now.
“Our Amsterdam route remains a firm favourite and this early morning flight opens the door on invaluable connections across the globe.
“When you break it down, and cut out how long it takes to drag yourself to Manchester or London airports, catching a city break or some winter sun from Teesside saves you a lot of hassle. It makes perfect sense to choose us.”
Fahmi Mahjoub, KLM’s UK & Ireland general manager, added: “Today’s announcement is a result of the great collaborative effort between Teesside International Airport and KLM to bring the world closer to the local community.
“We are delighted to reinstate the early morning service from Teesside Airport and demonstrate KLM’s commitment and support to the Tees Valley region.
“With our flights to Amsterdam connecting to over 160 destinations, the world is truly at your doorstep. It is now even more convenient for businesses to build their network, for families to connect with their loved ones, or for anyone to simply discover the world.”
