Care group appoints new Chief Operating Officer
A growing residential care group has made a key appointment as it seeks to expand further in the coming years.
Emily Whitehurst has joined Constantia Healthcare as its Chief Operating Officer.
The 34-year-old will be responsible for the operational direction of the Beverley-headquartered Group, which currently has four care homes, two in the North-East of England and two in the North-West.
Initially, she has been tasked with the integration of the company’s latest home, Crawshaw Hall in Rossendale, Lancashire, which was acquired at the end of 2021. This includes overhauling management systems and overseeing the refurbishment of the home.
Emily, who has also become registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as the ‘Nominated Individual’ for all four homes, has joined Constantia from The Hennessey Partnership where she was a Director and Chief Operating Officer.
Before this, she was National Head of Learning Disability Services at Bondcare, and also worked for The National Autistic Society for 11 years.
During her 16-year career in the health and social care sector, which started as a support worker, Emily has been heavily involved in quality management and compliance and played a leading role in helping to turnaround multiple services described as inadequate by the national regulator and placed under notice of decision to revoke registrations.
Emily says: “I am delighted to have joined Constantia Healthcare and am looking forward to playing my part in the growth of the Group.
“We will be looking to constantly improve in all areas and work closely with our residents, families, staff and other key stakeholders to ensure we offer consistent, person-centred services which deliver great outcomes for the people in our care.”
Constantia Healthcare has two homes in Middlesbrough, a 50-bedroom home called Roseleigh and a 43-bedroom home called Longlands. These homes provide general residential care, with Roseleigh also offering specialist care for people with complex needs such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, and physical disabilities.
In 2020, it acquired a 40-bedroom home in Blackburn called Queen’s Lodge which provides residential and nursing care, and Crawshaw Hall was added to the Group in November 2021. This is a 50-bedroom home providing general residential care, as well as specialist care for people aged 18 and over with complex needs such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, and medical/physical disabilities.
Anthony Massouras, Owner of Constantia Healthcare, said: “We are pleased to have been able to attract someone of Emily’s calibre to the Group.
“She has a wealth of experience, expertise, and skills in all aspects of care but most importantly, she shares our values, ethical standards and visions for how good care is managed and delivered.
“We have expanded from two to four care homes in the last few years and Emily will play a significant role as we look to grow the business further.”
