Hampshire housebuilder donates stack of cinema tickets to Fareham children’s charity

Barratt Homes has been ensuring young members of a local children’s charity can have a special night at the movies, with a generous donation.

In partnership with KidsOut, the leading housebuilder has handed over 200 cinema tickets to The Rainbow Centre in Fareham.

Committed to supporting organisations in the communities where it is building new homes, Barratt knew just the charity to choose for this special donation.

The Rainbow Centre supports children and adults, and their carers, affected by Cerebral Palsy, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s and head injuries. It uses a Conductive Education system of learning and rehabilitation developed specifically to support people with neurological conditions to overcome the challenges they face in all aspects of their lives.

Emma Dean from the The Rainbow Centre is thrilled to have received the stack of cinema tickets and said they have been extremely well received by the families she works with.

She said: “Because of Barratt’s generosity, our families have been able to get out for a fun evening out – something they all truly deserve.”

Seven-year-old Rosie, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, was one of the lucky recipients, and her mum had this to say: “As a family, it’s hard to get out for a treat day sometimes. To receive these free cinema tickets through Barratt’s support of the Rainbow Centre, is overwhelming. Thank you so much.”

Anthony Dimmick, Barratt Homes Community Liaison Manager, Southampton Division, said: “The work that the Rainbow Centre is doing to improve the independence, quality of life and opportunities for those suffering with neurological conditions, is fantastic. It’s a pleasure to be able to hand over these cinema tickets for the charity’s families to enjoy.

“We have been working in partnership with KidsOut for 8 years, and thanks go to them too, for providing us with these tickets to pass on.”

KidsOut believes that all children deserve fun and happiness in their lives, whatever their circumstances, and provides disadvantaged children across the UK with exciting memories to cherish.

The Rainbow Centre was created by a small group of parents looking to provide the best help and support they could for their children with Cerebral palsy – the most common cause of physical disability in children and young people in the developed world.

Barratt Homes is bringing new homes across Hampshire. It is committed to supporting local causes which improve the quality of life for those living in the region, and its employees are all entitled to two days per year to take as volunteering days, so that they can work for a local charity of their choosing.
