CGIs reveal latest phase of “important” regeneration project at Barking Riverside
Bellway London Partnerships is preparing to launch its new Eastbrooke Village development at Barking Riverside later this month.
The homebuilder is delivering 107 apartments off Handley Page Road in the latest phase of the wider regeneration of the former Barking Power Station site. A total of 10,800 homes are set to be created at Barking Riverside, making it “one of Europe’s largest housing projects”.
Most of the homes at Eastbrooke Village will be allocated as affordable housing for local people, with 54 apartments to be made available for low-cost rent or shared ownership.
The other 53 homes will be sold to private buyers. These properties will include a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments and the first of them will be released onto the market this month, at an opening event on Saturday November 26.
Bellway is set to build 1,500 of the 10,800 new homes being delivered at Barking Riverside. Construction work is continuing on its Fielders Quarter development off Fielders Crescent, which will comprise 371 apartments and townhouses when completed.
Dominic Griffiths, head of sales for Bellway London Partnerships, commented: “There is a great deal of anticipation ahead of the launch of Eastbrooke Village as it represents a key milestone in the ongoing regeneration scheme at Barking Riverside.
“The sales team at our nearby Fielders Quarter development have recorded consistently high sales since we launched the site in April 2020. We have already seen that there is huge demand for the homes at Barking Riverside and we are therefore expecting plenty of interest in the apartments at Eastbrooke Village.
“As well as providing attainable homes for first-time buyers in the capital, we are also making an important contribution towards the supply of affordable homes for people unable to purchase on the open market. This is reflected by the fact that more than half of the apartments at Eastbrooke Village will be designated as affordable housing.
“As the principal homebuilder within this regeneration project, we are keen to continue the delivery of homes at Barking Riverside and to welcome more residents to this rapidly emerging neighbourhood.”
