Starbucks creates local jobs as new venue opens in Sunderland

A new Starbucks Drive Thru store, operated by 23.5 Degrees, is set to open in Sunderland today, creating 16 new jobs.

Customers are invited to sample its Holiday menu including the new Toffee Nut Cream Cold Brew and Praline Cookie Hot Chocolate, or try Starbucks new holiday food items, including the Pigs under Blanket Roll and Toffee Nut Muffin.

Gemma Barrett, new store openings manager at 23.5 Degrees, commented: “We are excited to open our new store in Sunderland and look forward to welcoming the local community.

“To celebrate, we will host a ribbon cutting attended by the store’s chosen charity North East Homeless charity at 10am and we will offer reusable cups to the first 100 customers on the opening day.”

The store is said to feature a “contemporary” design and offers customers the opportunity to enjoy a handcrafted cup of coffee and “relax with the comfortable seating” and free wi-fi. Those looking to recharge while on the go can use the “convenient” Drive Thru lane.

Delivery will be fully available to all customers via UberEats and Deliveroo. Customers can also order via the Starbucks UK App, available for iPhone and Android, to order ahead, skip the queue and collect to take away.

Starbucks is committed to 100 per cent ethically sourced coffee in partnership with Conservation International. The cornerstone of the brand’s ethical sourcing approach to buying coffee is Coffee and Farmer Equity (C.A.F.E.) Practices.

The new store is conveniently located at Salterfen Road, Sunderland, SR2 9ST, and is open from 06:00am – 09:00pm Monday to Sunday.
