Bellway provides millions of pounds of investment for services in West Midlands
More than £5m is being invested in Warwickshire by a homebuilder that is delivering hundreds of places for people to live across the county.
Bellway is already working on sites around Warwickshire that have resulted in millions of pounds in financial contributions from them as part of its planning agreements, supporting a range of things from buses to biodiversity.
Policing, education, leisure, and health services have all benefited, and now the company is launching a new development in Coventry. Jubilee Green is a 40-home scheme being built on land off Watery Lane in Keresley.
The development will comprise 30 houses to be sold on the open market, and 10 affordable homes for local people, five of which will be sold at below market value, with the other five being made available for low-cost rent or shared ownership.
Other developments by Bellway in the county include Houlton Meadows on Crick Road, Hillmorton, in Rugby, which will result in £3.5m in developer contributions as part of the planning agreement. This will be spent on areas including education and public open space.
In Cubbington, Bellway is building its 133-home Hazelwood development on Coventry Road. This scheme will generate more than £800k in contributions to support education, policing, the NHS, library services, biodiversity, a new bus stop and sports facilities.
Meanwhile the 147-home Hampton Trove scheme on Daly Avenue, Hampton Magna, will generate almost £800k in contributions. Included in that is £224k going to bus service improvements, £120k on indoor sports contributions, and more than £169k for local health services.
Bellway is also delivering 140 homes at its Kings Grove development off Banbury Road in Lighthorne Heath.
Ben Smith, managing director of Bellway South Midlands, commented: “The millions of pounds that Bellway is contributing as part of our planning agreements in this area will make a significant difference here. They are a real investment in the future of Warwickshire.
“By providing funding for education, health and policing we are helping to make the area a place that people want to live and bring up their families and somewhere that people want to stay. And with money for open spaces, library services and sports facilities these contributions will help to boost people’s wellbeing too.”
