Newcastle International Airport announces the introduction of Greece’s flagship carrier
Newcastle International Airport has announced the introduction of its newest airline partner, AEGEAN, who will begin flying directly to their hub in Athens in 2023.
The award winning airline will appear on the airport’s arrivals and departure boards from 14 June until 17 September 2023, departing from Newcastle to Athens twice a week, every Wednesday and Sunday.
As Greece’s flagship carrier and named as the ‘Best Regional Airline in Europe’ for 11 consecutive years at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, AEGEAN will provide direct flights to Athens during summer 2023, unlocking connections across their network of Greek islands and beyond.
Leon McQuaid, director of Aviation Development at Newcastle International Airport: “We are delighted to be announcing Greece’s flagship carrier, AEGEAN, who will offer even more choice to the region by offering direct services to Athens with onwards connections within Greece and across Europe and the Middle-East.
“Greece is one of the North East’s most popular holiday destinations and there is huge demand for direct services to Athens. This investment demonstrates great confidence in the North East’s largest airport and the region and we look forward to welcoming AEGEAN in 2023.”
AEGEAN’s ‘beyond’ service allows passengers to book partner and participating airline onwards connections via AEGEAN, providing a wide range of connection opportunities through a single platform.
For passengers seeking the luxury experience, Aegean offers the opportunity to bid to upgrade an Economy Class tickets to Business Class on eligible flights only.
