Bournemouth primary school has a brand-new sensory room thanks to housebuilder
Thanks to Barratt Homes, the Epiphany School in Bournemouth now has a designated room for its pupils with special educational needs or disabilities.
The leading housebuilder donated £500 to The Epiphany School in Muscliff, Bournemouth, and the school has used the money to equip one of its classrooms with a range of stimuli to develop and engage the senses of its children that need extra provision. Committed to helping organisations in the communities where it is building new homes, Barratt were keen to show its support for the local primary school, and along with the £500 for its sensory room, the developer has also handed over a cheque for £1,000 for the school to spend on as they wish.
Kate Webster, the SEND lead at Epiphany, said the whole school is extremely grateful for the housebuilder’s support.
She said: “This generous donation has meant we’ve been able to develop a much-needed sensory space for children across the school. Pupils love coming to the Phoenix Room. They use it for movement breaks, sensory calming time, as well as for enjoying social interactions with peers. A huge thank you on behalf of everyone here.”
Anthony Dimmick, Barratt Homes Community Liaison Manager, Southampton Division, said: “Epiphany School’s Phoenix Room is looking incredible, and I’m delighted that Barratt could help fund a place for its students to learn in a safe environment. It has been a pleasure to handover this donation.”
The Epiphany School is a two-form entry primary school in the Muscliff suburb of Bournemouth. The school places emphasis on knowing, caring for and supporting all its children and promotes positive relationships based on praise and encouragement within a Christian ethos.
