Dates announced for the return of Morpeth’s “magical” Christmas Market
Morpeth is currently getting ready to hold a “magical” two-day Christmas Market this weekend (Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 December).
Morpeth Market Place will be filled with over 20 local producers and crafters, with the event being framed as “ideal for those carrying out some Christmas gift shopping”.
Joining the market will be a selection of cakes, crafts and alcohol. The ever-popular O’Donnell Moonshine will be joining the market again marking its third appearance at Morpeth Markets. Catchis Kimchi will also be attending alongside The Flour Room with its cakes and traybakes.
Putting the “festive cheer” back into the town, The Mid Northumberland Chorus will be singing Christmas carols in the Market Place from 12pm. Continuing with the festive spirit into Sunday, the Ponteland Community Wind Band will be performing at the Arcade from 12pm until 2pm.
Hot food will be available throughout the weekend with traders including Geordie Bangers, who will be serving up sausages on a stick and hot dogs with crispy onions and mustard. Deep North will also be returning, after a very successful day at the centre’s Makers Market, with its donuts and hot drinks.
The Naked Sourdough will be joining the Christmas market on the Sunday, serving up handmade cruffins, focaccias and croissants. It also boasts a selection of freshly baked breads.
Lottie Thompson, centre manager for Sanderson Arcade, commented: “We are really excited to host our annual Christmas Market weekend this year. As always, we have the most amazing traders lined up and this year we’re welcoming a special guest, The Grinch, who will certainly stir things up.”
Attendees can also expect to see handmade Christmas wreaths and dried flowers from Northern Sky Flowers in addition to offerings from Morpeth Market regulars Phoebe Sara Art and Ebbtide Resin, with their “amazing” artwork.
