NorthInvest Breaks Ground with New Board Hire, Sanjeev Gordhan

Leeds based not-for-profit NorthInvest appoints new board member Sanjeev Gordhan, General Partner at Type One Ventures, bringing in new connections and a raft of experience to support their ambitious entrepreneurs.

NorthInvest specialises in obtaining angel investment and expert support for technology and digital start-ups based in the North of England. Through their extensive network, NorthInvest has facilitated 21 deals amounting to £15.6 million in investment since the start of 2022.

They now welcome Sanjeev Gordhan to their 16 strong team.

On his joining the organisation, NorthInvest Board Director, Helen Oldham, said: “We’re thrilled to have Sanjeev join our Board. He brings with him years of experience in the investment and innovation spaces - his expertise and connections will be pivotal as we look to raise our profile across the country.”

Sanjeev Gordhan currently works as a General Partner at Type One Ventures, a US-based venture firm investing in space and deep technology. He has consulted on many start-ups with his expertise in operational and commercial development, on top of 6 years experience investing in early-stage businesses in a personal and professional capacity.

When asked about his new role with NorthInvest, Sanjeev Gordhan said: “I’m delighted to be joining NorthInvest’s Board. Having previously worked with the team, I have been in awe of their drive to level up the support and funding available for entrepreneurs in the Northern Powerhouse. Gordhan will bring an abundance of knowledge to NorthInvest’s existing strong board, as well as substantial connections from the international venture market, strengthening NorthInvest’s ties across the UK while fuelling the future of the North.
